One of my dear friends, Sandy, is getting married! Sandy is beautiful inside and out. She has a warmth about her that makes you want to never lose touch with her. When Sandy asked me to be one of her bridesmaids, I was honored. I instantly knew I wanted to help make this time in her life, extra special! Thus, I opted to throw her a bridal shower…
Like any good girlfriend, you want to help throw a memorable bridal shower and tailor the décor and theme to the bride. For most us, being young and on a budget doesn’t allow us to get carried away and truth be told, I grew up with a mother who is a professional party thrower – no pressure. My mother knows every trick in the book to throw the perfect fete, but because I don’t have a matching budget, I am excited to get crafty!
I like the idea of a traditional hard copy invitation; you know, something for the bride to save! (And if you’re anything like me, I collect that stuff). My friend Sandy is so classic and chic so I went with a “getaway” car shaped invitation by FineStationary.com.
For decoration, I went to Michael’s and I’ll be the first to tell you - Michael’s had it all! The most helpful brand was by “Brides.” They even package their goods with awesome ideas. I wanted to have timeless decorations with a lot of soft edges, both in color and in texture.
For height on the table, I incorporated flowers. It was Baby’s Breath that really caught my eye for the early Spring shower! Now that I had the flower down, I decided to decorate mason jars for each place setting to use as a mini-vase. Then, I cut up a bundle of baby’s breath and included a “chalkboard-on-a-stick” in the middle of this arrangement, which doubled as name tags. This was an amazing tip by the Brides collection!
It all came together and they lived happily ever after!
